Large reputable and leading It Manufacturer Distributor in Hertfordshire are looking for a Project Manager for the Network Division Minimum of 5yrs experience of delivering multiple concurrent projects within public sector environments to both tight timescales and budgetary constraints. The applicant will have achieved a Prince2 practitioner qualification and posses a good understanding of Itil and or Iso20000. The Candidate will combine these attributes with a competent technical knowledge of It hardware and infrastructure technology. Candidates that have been employed within the educational sector or direct competitors would be preferential Job Spec Networks Division Project Manager Job Title Project Manager Department Technical Operations Main Purpose of the position Project manager to ensure that project s as a whole produce the required products or services to the required standard of quality and with specified constraints of time and cost. Reports to Technical Operations Manager (Reporting Manager) Key relationships with Sales networks technical teams third party suppliers product managers production teams technical support team Xenon and customers Key tasks 1. Project manager Planning of projects and the development of the associated project plan presentation to a Project Board or relevant client group using Ms Project software and appropriate project methodologies. Liaising between related projects to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated. Developing Stage Plans with clearly defined deliverables which can be measured or tested for the next stage before submission to the project board or relevant client group. Defining the objectives and responsibilities for each stage. Monitoring overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary. Developing production and distribution of highlight reports and correlating checkpoint reports. Monitoring of the results of all control meetings and liaison with the Project Assurance Team to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project. Preparation of the Project Evaluation Review. 2. Keep detailed information on all deviations from plan at either stage or project level and of any corrective action taken 3. Keep detailed information on recommendations and designs proposed within or outside stage tolerances. 4. Monitor the technical and quality strategy agreement with those in the Department who have responsibility for departmental policy. 5. Monitor the Configuration Management and any change control structure. 6. Management of Project support office and installation engineers Person Specification Project Manager Summary The ideal candidate will have a technical awareness of many or all of the following Intel Architecture (Ia) servers and server operating systems resilient server solutions Microsoft and Novell back office products industry leading network products including routers switches voice and data integration devices and cabling infrastructures The candidate will have experience in the managing technical installations of these products and possess a strong commercial understanding. He or she will probably come from a large dealer network integrator or systems integrator Must haves are 1. Product Knowledge and support requirements for Ia servers Microsoft and Novell products and network infrastructures. 2. Ability to qualify customers requirements design and present the solution directly and produce full details of all the products and services required. 3. Experience of supporting major accounts 4. Must understand the Pc server networking market and competitors 5. Capable of building relationships with the customers 6. Proactive articulate and numerate 7. Capable of dealing at all levels (within Viglen and with customers) 8. Good time management project management and prioritising skills capable of chasing multiple tasks simultaneously. Works and produces results on own initiative. 9. Driving licence. 10. Good understanding of Is02000 Itil 11. An understanding of a recognised project management methodology would be a benefit (eg Prince2) 12. An excellent proven team player 13. Well trained in medium-sized respected organisation (Preferred But Not Essential) 14. Good eye for technical detail.
